9 Days Mahale Katavi Chimpanzee Trekking – 9 Days Best of Tanzania Safari

A luxurious safari that combines the beauty and drama of Tanzania’s game parks with the tropical beaches and Indian Ocean of exotic Zanzibar.

Day 1 – Nairobi, Moshi

From Nairobi, travel south by shuttle bus into Tanzania for an overnight stay in a hotel in Moshi beneath the shadow of Mt. Kilamanjaro.

Day 2 – Lake Manyara National Park

Travelling across the spectacular Great Rift Valley you reach Lake Manyara National Park. Plains game here include buffalo, wildebeest and giraffe, and pelicans and storks share Lake Manyara with migrant flamingos, which turn the crystalline edges of the soda lake a vibrant pink.

Day 3 – 4, Olduvai Gorge, Serengeti NP, Ngorongoro Crater

A brief visit to Olduvai Gorge to learn about the evolution of mankind before entering the famous Serengeti National Park. With its diverse landscapes of grassy plains, acacia savannah, and river forests the Serengeti is home to a wide variety of wildlife including lion, cheetah, leopard, buffalo, as well as various antelopes and birds. At the Ngorongoro Crater, enjoy the tremendous views at the top before descending the steep road to the floor of the world’s largest intact caldera for more outstanding game viewing. This is Africa’s densest collection of animals including the Big 5 and photographers will be well rewarded.

Day 5 – Moshi

From the crater, pass colourful Maasai villages in the Great Rift Valley on the way back to Moshi.

Day 6 – 8, Nungwi Beach, Zanzibar

From Moshi, you are transferred to your flight to Zanzibar, and on arrival on the island transferred to Nungwi, a delightful beachside resort in northern Zanzibar. Spend your time here enjoying the warm and tantalisingly blue Indian Ocean and the long white sandy beaches. There’s a range of watersports to try or simply relax, sample the excellent seafood and soak up the timeless and laid back atmosphere.

Day 9 – Nungwi, Stone Town

This morning, you will be transferred to Zanzibar’s capital Stone Town, and there’s time to explore the enchanting and intruiguing alleyways of the ancient Arabian city, buy some of the spices that the island is famous for, or visit the giant tortoises on nearby Prison Island.

Day 10 – Zanzibar

Transfer to the airport or the ferry terminal for boats to Dar es Salaam where you tour ends.
